Securing Grain

We are well known for working all around the UK on both customers sites and also aboard vessels. This job was one of the more unusual requests; we were asked to secure 750 tons of grain in the hold of this particular ship.

The captain was concerted due to rough seas that the grain could gather momentum allowing an opportunity for movement making the whole ship unstable and therefore unsafe.

The solution was to shovel the grain into 1 ton dumpy bags, stacking the bags on top of the already loaded grain. Creating a compact and tight layer which held the remaining grain in place, hence making the shipment safe for voyage.
